Oh, and just in case you want the TERM environment variable that appears on the Sun system to be something other than VT100, you can always just tell Sun you have a different type of character cell terminal emulator, assuming the terminal emulator you are using on the Mac supports those featuresĮxport TERM=xterm # executed on the Sun sideīut this will still be a character cell terminal interface. On Ubuntu 20.04 at least, terminfo entries are split between the ncurses-base (included by default) and ncurses-term (not). I've got about a dozen different Mac, Linux, Sun, and AIX system bookmarks in my iTerm bookmark list. 1 Answer Sorted by: 5 There's a terminfo entry for putty-256color shipped with ncurses like the rest of the terminfo entries. When you move a window to a different screen by selecting the Move To Screen menu item, it will lose its affinity for the window assigned to it in Prefs. The -X (or -Y) will create an ssh X11 tunnel from your Mac to the Sun system. Ssh -X an alternative you can replace -X with -Y. However, maybe what you really want is to export your X11 DISPLAY device to your Sun system, so your Sun system can send back X11 GUI windows. ![]() It is always a character cell terminal emulator. iPhone iPad Share Tweet Post Suggest changes pTerm info, screenshots & reviews Alternatives to pTerm 16 What is pTerm pTerm provides an SSH, Telnet, and raw TCP client for your iPhone or iPod Touch It is based on the popular desktop client PuTTY. ![]() Unix, Terminal, and X11 questions are best asked in the Mac OS X Technologies -> Unix forum.Īnd an xterm is never a graphic device.
